PLEASE help me, my name is Dexter and I need out of the shelter right away
Update: July 6, 2010
Dexter and Scarlett together

Dexter, our special needs bunny, was adopted by our wonderful foster family and Haven volunteers Kathy and James. Dexter found true love too! He found Scarlett the beautiful Rex, daughter of Kathy and James. Check out his sweet photo. What a great couple. Scarlett has the same health issue as Dexter, so no problem. They really seemed to be so comfortable with each other. They were very relaxed and happy, kisses too. It was as if they had been together always.

Dexter Dexter

A local Shelter has a sweet, but very lonely boy bunny (that has been in their system since January. He has a stubborn upper respiratory infection (URI) the vets have treated this with success. He had a culture and has pseudomonas, which has been difficult to cure. Sensitive to Baytril and Vibramycin and we have had him on Baytril for a couple of months and he is better but not 100%. The problem is, the shelter will not keep him much longer. They need the urgent medical foster space. So many new rabbits are arriving every day! We need to find a home ASAP. His fate hangs in the balance. He is currently isolated in his foster home and is lonesome and seems depressed but loves to be petted and even bows his head to present himself for some attention. He is inactive in a cage but he loves to play and explore on the deck when someone can supervise him outside. He even does binkies when he gets to be free. He does not act sick other than sneezing on occasion. He likes cats. We are hoping we can find him a home with someone that has a rabbit with the same bug that needs a friend or find rescue where he can be around other rabbits like him for companionship. He is very gentle, easy to handle, and perfect with his box. He is also very good about taking his medication. Aside from his litterbox, you only need to clean his pen every week because he is so clean. You can see more of Dexter in action in his movie.
