Urgent Help Needed for Injured Bunny Esau
Update: October 18, 2011
Sweet Esau is continuing to heal and now he is well enough to be neutered. Thanks to a special donation he has an appointment set for his surgery on October 19. His donor is also wanting to adopt him! We will set up his adoption after he is neutered. We are very excited to have the two meet. Esau may even have two bunny friends at his new home. Esau is in the care of a special TLC site now. He is doing so well. Naturally he will be so happy to meet his potential new adoptive family. Thanks you to his special donor. We'll be sure to get pictures of his adoption. Thanks to Lisa in Monterey for coordinating all of this. Wow Lisa - Good job!

Hi, Here is my recent picture. I have good food now and I just need a home of my very own soon. I am very thankful for all of the nice people who cared about me and donated money for my care. I feel like I am getting a little stronger every day. The vet said she cannot give me my ear back, but it is healing, and doesn't hurt as much any more. Oh well, is that ok with you? I am a gentle boy and I don't mind. Come to meet me soon, please?

Esau's road to recovery and health has begun. Today he was rescued, taken out of the shelter, and is at a special medical foster site. His new foster home is with a vet tech who works with Avian and Exotic Clinic in Monterey, and he will receive the best care possible there. Our first concern is his dealing with his infection. Once that is healed, he will be available for adoption and his neuter surgery. We are very happy that he is safe now and will soon find a loving home of his own.

Esau is quite traumatized, and is still understandably afraid of being handled. The rescuer who took him out of the shelter said "The baby injured ear bunny just broke my heart - He was the only one that screamed when I picked him up! It was such a sad cry, I nearly dropped him. I just prayed I wouldn’t drop him and told him he was safe. He was really struggling. I’m so relieved that they are all safe!! I could not sleep well knowing they were out there".

Esau says "Look at me in my new picture. I am feeling better already, starting to heal. I am out of the shelter. Well, I do still have most of my ear. Thanks to the humans out there for supporting me and donating to help me heal".

Esau will likely require expensive veterinary care to help him heal. We are committed to providing him whatever care he requires, regardless of expense. If you can help us with a donation, please donate via The Rabbit Haven's PayPal account or by check. Please indicate that your donation is for Esau, so that we can be sure he gets it.

It's hard to see such a young rabbit (10-12 weeks old) with such deep sadness in his eyes. This rabbit was dumped with his family out in the streets in Salinas and thankfully he was rescued by a Good Samaritan before more damage was done. So far 6 babies have been brought to the shelter - all are traumatized, depressed and/or injured. We are working to get him out of the shelter, but the bunny needs help right away. He cannot wait and the shelter most likely will not give him much time.

The injured white boy bunny has a serious ear injury. Part of his ear has been ripped off and he needs help now. His ear is infected, it requires immediate medical attention. He needs medication to control his pain and eliminate the infection. Also, more rabbits will be coming into the shelter soon, so the chance they will keep this boy without help is nil. He is not yet old enough to neuter, but will be soon if we can get him through this traumatic injury. We need money to neuter him when he is well enough.

Please call/email us right away about this injured bunny. Call 831 600-7479 or email Director@therabbithaven.org. Donations will also be happily accepted in his name via The Rabbit Haven's PayPal account or by check. Please indicate that your donation is for Esau, so that we can be sure he gets it.

Please help him. We want to see him happy once again. We cannot fix the ear but we CAN treat his injuries and get him into foster care with support. Can you help this injured bunny? He has no chance without our help.

Please call us with any ideas you have about his care and if you can contribute for medical care we will see that he gets what is needed. Help in any way you can please.
