Tell Whole Foods to Stop Selling Rabbit Meat

The Rabbit Haven will join rabbit rescue groups nationwide outside Whole Foods in Santa Cruz and Capitola on Sunday, August 17. The purpose of this event is to share educational information about rabbits and express our opposition to Whole Foods' decision to carry rabbit meat in their stores.

Community members are encouraged to join with us, attend, and participate, keeping in mind this is a family-friendly and peaceful event. The Rabbit Haven's goal in this nationwide day of action is to inform customers of Whole Foods' Decision to sell rabbit meat, to let people know what wonderful animals rabbits are and that rabbits are pets, just like cats and dogs. They are, in fact, the third most popular pet in the US.

On behalf of rabbits, The Rabbit Haven encourages Whole Foods customers to contact store management to voice their opposition to the sale of pets as food at the local level in both Santa Cruz and Capitola or by calling or emailing their headquarters.

Please contact our Rabbit Haven volunteer Mari Rodriguez at, or call 831-335-7099 if you would like to support The Rabbit Haven in this endeavor by volunteering a few hours of your time on Sunday, August 17.
