The Rabbit Haven holds adoption shows three times a month. These events are the best way for people to meet our rabbits, learn more about their care, and adopt them. Each show offers 15-35 adoptable rabbits plus experts to answer any questions you might have about rabbits and their care. Our shows are always open to the public and are free of charge. You can see a schedule of our adoption events on the home page of the website and on the adoption showcase.
Before You Go
Before attending a show, you can see the available rabbits on our adoption showcase. When you find rabbits you are interested in, you can contact our director Auntie Heather at (831)600-7479 between 11AM and 9PM or email email@example.com. She can tell you more about the rabbits you are interested in, and may be able to arrange an appointment for you to meet specific rabbits at a show. Appointments are not required, but are highly recommended to be sure you get to meet the bunnies best suited for you. You should also fill out our pre-adoption questionnaire and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can get to know you better and find the best rabbit companion for you.
What to expect at an adoption show
When you enter the adoption show area, you will be greeted by a Haven volunteer and asked to sign in. You will then be shown into the adoption area, where you will find adoptable bunnies in X-pen enclosures. Each pen will contain a single rabbit or pair of bonded rabbits, and will have a poster on the outside showing the rabbit's photograph, the rabbit's name and a description of the rabbit's personality. There will be chairs available for you to sit and hold bunnies, and Haven volunteers to help you pick up and hold bunnies. These volunteers will also be able to discuss basic rabbit care and behavior with you. If you are interested in a particular bunny, there are meet and greet areas where you can sit on the floor with a bunny and interact with them on their own level.
Services available at adoption shows:
You can adopt your new bunny friend right at the show. Our Haven counselors will step you through the adoption process and provide vital information about the care of your new friend. We will also provide you with valuable coupons for a free first vet visit and discounts on supplies.
If you are looking for a friend for your bunny, we can help you find the perfect match. Our experienced bunny bonders will work with your bunny and several potential mates, helping you choose the one that best matches your bunny's temperament.
- Advice about feeding, grooming, and care
Rabbit Haven volunteers are always available to answer your questions about rabbits, their care, and their behavior. These bunny experts can tell you everything you'll need to know to keep your new bunny friend safe, happy, and healthy.
- Nail trimming and scent gland cleaning for a small donation
At each adoption show, Rabbit Haven volunteers are available to trim your bunny's nails and clean your bunny's scent glands for a small donation. These volunteers are also available to give you advice about grooming.
- Home Health Checks
Haven Health check staff can provide a home health check up, then show you how to do these at home on a regular basis. This nose to toes exam can allow you to catch health problems with your bunny before they become serious issues. When you adopt a bunny, they will also show you how to perform this important check yourself.
- Shopping assistance for supplies for your new bunny
All the supplies that you'll need for your new bunny are available at the stores that host our shows. A Haven volunteer will take you around the store, showing you the best food, toys and housing items to purchase for your new bunny. You'll also receive a coupon for a discount on your purchases of supplies.
